Yea I agree on a catch bottle(s) for sure and also safety wire the drain plug at least . Then maybe inform and show people to check all other related bolts were oil can come gushing out if it falls out . Kinda like a tech inspec .

Catch can, if you get rigid and ban all catch cans that once used to hold a beverage (AKA only allow AMA approved units that will not crumple/break in a fall) you are just going to drive off some people, and still generally be ineffective for the most part on a track like this. Small oil spills on pavement just aren't that big a deal. Indoors, on concrete, that's a whole other story. As far as protecting the pavement from crash damage: All levers should have ball ends Bars should have round bar ends, Hand Guards that use the bar end for a mount should be inspected on an individual basis to make sure they don't have any protruding edges Pegs should fold Folding tip shift levers? I'd suggest swingarm and fork sliders, along with peg sliders, but 99% of people won't bother. Heck, I still haven't sent my swingarm to the welder so I can mount slider spools to it. Classes: I wouldn't bother getting hung up on dialing in 'the perfect' class breaks. Trying to sort bikes by displacement will guarantee HUGE discrepancies in power no matter where you draw the lines. Case in point, stock import 125s vs dialed in 124 +R motors, no comparison. So instead, maybe consider 'A' and 'B' groups, and have riders class themselves based on skill and speed on the track? (Riders can be bumped up/down at manager's discretion to keep things even.) That way a skunkworks 86cc rocket from hell can race against comparable lap time racers rather than trashing Moto8 and not being challenged. Conversely, John Q Scaredtotwisttherightgrip with a clapped out stock Lifan 140 can run with others pushing his pace rather than trying to fend off built MotoHP 150 +Rs.

Drain Plug Fyi .. You can buy either the Moose or Takegawa magnetic drain plugs that are already pre-drilled .. As for the honor system when it comes to ability . People can sand bag Plus..., I tend to practice at a slower pace than I race at . I'm not in do or die mode Last edited by JohnnyB; 12-22-2007 at 08:05 PM.

Kurlon Thanks for the response. Catch cans design I'm not going to worry about to much at this point unless it becomes a problem. Our bikes have catch cans I made from PVC pipe and end caps, drill, put a hose union in one end and a self tap screw in the other with a little vent hole in the top next to the union, use a clamp to bolt to case. simple and cost $2.50. For classes I agree with you, I would like to race lap times, put the fast folks together and the slower folks together. I needed a starting place to get us going and this was one way. I did think of just having 3 classes for the 4 strokes, based on attitude and goals and not hardware. We would have Sportsman (folks that enjoy the ride and want to improve their skills), Expert (folks that come to compete and think plastic trophies and series points are important to their self worth), and MadMax (folks that just want to run on the edge for the thrill of it, don't care about points or trophies just that they made that wicked pass in turn 2 through the grass and lived to tell about it). Bikes for these classes would be run what you got within the 12in rear, horizontal engine of under 150cc or there abouts. We could then group anyone else that shows up and doesn't fit into showroom, pocketbike or scooter and run them together and score separately. Now is the time to send me your feedback.

| I like the sounds of that !!! ^^^^^^^ LOL... Start throwing the words series and points around and people start getting all serious about it. Keep it simple and it will stay fun.

Ok Folks What do you think of this proposal for classes. Pit Bike Classes Classes are based on rider attitude and skills and not on hardware. The overall bike limits are rear tires 12 inch or smaller and 4 stroke horizontal engines. Two stroke Pocketbikes and Scooters should be compatible with 50cc types. The race director reserves the right to exclude bikes which are incompatible with the track. Sportsman Class Class for those folks that are: • New to the sport. • Out to enjoy the ride. • Wanting to improve their skills. • Old enough to know they have to go to work Monday. Expert Mini Class Class for those folks that are: • Competing for points, trophies and bragging rights. • Wanting someplace to run that built up engine that they have be telling everyone about. • Wanting to challenge themselves against good riders. MadMax Unlimited Class for those folks that are: • Looking to run on the edge for the thrill. • Unconcerned about who is in front as long as there is someone to try to pass. Pocketbike Class • Any Pocket Bike. • If liquid cooled they must be running water only and have catch cans. Scooter Class • Any step through Scooter design. Let me know. C

I like. Add in that you can be moved up or down a class or two by race manager's discretion to keep things safe, and I think you're golden.

Race days will have Practice (if we have huge speed differences we'll run a sportsman practice including the scooters and pocketbikes and then everyone else), and minimum two heat races. Lap count will depend on track setup for that race. We'll make sure everyone gets enough. Maybe we'll run an endurance event once in awhile. I'll get my website upgraded and put a pdf with the flyer and rules up on it. That way you folks can download them and get the word out. Thanks for all your help Craig

It sounds like the lap times will have to be recorded to work this out. There are 2 types of pocketbikes. The cag style runs about the same as the rental scooters that National Powersports is selling off. The euro style bikes are going to lap scooters pretty often. If everyone just shows up it should be easy to work it out at the track.

Re: Rt 106 Racepark, NH Hi Folks Race #1 is completed. Despite the wet conditions we all had a great time. The fresh pavement and great drainage at Rt 106 Racepark meant that everyone found grip and there was plenty of knee draggin action. Everyone got plenty of laps. The track personel did a great job setting up. The track folks will be looking to make further improvements. Thanks to all who showed up. Results and points standings are posted on the Evil Empire Racing website. We need your support to make this work, Next race Saturday June 9, Under the lights, Pits open at 4pm, practice at 5, racing after that. Hope to see you there
