Re: Lets see everyone's Z!

you should make a custom gas tank that goes under the seat like a chappy. ahah i like the look of the hard tail with no tank.

Looks good. Classic! If I remember correctly, you're in Az (Phoenix) correct? I live in Peoria (Arrowhead area). Did you end up making your Z street legal? Do you happen to know the AZ requirements to register a Z ('73 specifically)?

I haven't found out yet, I've been reading up on the laws here, it seems if they are in a good mood they could just give you a title and registration. I think I will go with a title service and pay the $85 to get one. I also have a '67 Honda CL90 I have in a million pieces right now, I will use the title service to get one for it too.

How about some pics of your '73? I'd like to see it.

My 73 is being taken apart and cleaned up. Its complete nut needs some paint and misc parts. Here are the plans for my Z:
85 or 88cc kit
20mm carb
Manual clutch conversion
BMX style bars
Street tires
Gloss Black frame, forks, rims tank (with silver racing stripe down the center-possibly offset)
Personalized plates

I called the dmv and was told they would not issue a title since the Z was considered a "scooter" Little do they know the plans I have for this "scooter"

Re: Lets see everyone's Z!

Here she is! Just installed tank today, headlight tomorrow, maybe fire her up also!

If I remove the bulbs, could I fire her up without the battery? I haven't got acid for it yet.

Re: Lets see everyone's Z!

Here's a little perspective, viewed against the many gleaming, large-carbureted tricked-out bikes in this thread: my '71 Z50AK2, outfitted for snow commuting and general farm use, and getting pretty ratty...

Note 4.00x8 tractor-tread rototiller tire on back, which I installed about 15 years ago when I was commuting to class on it in the snow. Front tire is a 4.00x8 IRC, no longer available from what I can tell.

Also note Tecumseh lawnmower air filter; a cheap replacement for the missing stock unit when I got the bike. Works great until it gets wet, at which point you have to remove it until it dries or the engine won't run.

ALSO note big orange goob of sealant around the intake/head joint. Stripped bolt hole there. Sealant is temporary until I can get a helicoil kit. But it sure is ugly.

That's a NOS tank, purchased from a Honda dealer parts counter in about 1992, sans cap, petcock and emblems, for about $140. I think those days may be over now.

I just got the bike running again this month, after being in on-again off-again storage for several years. Every time this happens I think, "why has this been in storage? It's fun!" This time I'm fixing everything on it, dammit.

Is that the factory paint color? If so, where did you get it? Thanks!

Re: Lets see everyone's Z!

Here's my '86 Z50RD. It was a barn find, laying there for over 15 years. The stock 50 smoked like crazy but I found a like new Redcat 90 for $50 bucks to get it back on the road until I rebuild the Honda motor. I have a long way to get it half as nice as many other here!

Re: Lets see everyone's Z!

So I picked up another Z for my son. We've been working on mine together so when I saw this deal I picked it up. Its a runner. Needs some work, parts here and there and some cleaning. Its a 75 k6 with matching motor but its got some vented tappets. Im sure those were not stock. The kick starter shaft is missing (the case is patched up with JB weld). I dont know if that can be replaced or what is missing internally. I havent measured the shocks but they look way too long and the chain looks like it has too many links. Here are some pics. <br>
