Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

From what I understand Planetminis doesn't allow linking in respect to it's paying vendors... Just a guess...

Wow.I thought this was a "FORUM".

Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

What is odd is that I did not even mean to provide a link in my post. I recall typing something without the .com, but who knows, I could have.

I see a certain Dr's name without the .com in many posts and that seems to work.

Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

From what I understand Gregg just typed the name of a company he has used in the past, it wasn't a link at all. I can understand wanting to keep rogue companies from coming in and spamming the forum with ads but users should still be able to share information freely.

Who decides what companies we can type?

Correct. They use the 110 standard on the header/flange. I tried to mount up a Honda pipe, no go. I think the best way to go is to find a good quality KLX110 system that has a metal band for the muffler mount so that it can be adjusted to fit the top shock mount stud. I'm sure you can find one that fits that decription but I didn't look that hard. I get good deals on the twobros stuff so I went with it and will have to deal with the mounting that it comes with...

Hey, don't laugh at my sweet DRZ110 test pipe...
Shouldn't you be running an oil cooler with this motor? Does it run hot without it?

Give me a chance brother.... haha I've been working on a mount for the Pitster oil cooler so that it'll mount up to the CT.. It's done so I will have the cooler on today or tomorrow... For now I'm just takin it real easy around the neighborhood w/o the cooler...

Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

Some updates.... I had Vince send me his GPX/OKO manifold adapter so that I could use my faithful OKO 26mm on the yx160.. After stripping the threads on the manifold (with .000001 lbs of torque) I installed helicoils to clean everything up. I actually install helicoils in critical areas just for piece of mind. Here's a pic of the manifold adapter

Man, the fit is a close call but actually fits nice and snug as you can see

I had my buddy at a local Yamaha dealer order me a Twobros M6 KLX110 system... The bike is so much faster now, I was laughing when I tested the pipe out.. Very impressive.... I just hope the quiet insert makes the bike more stealthy... It seems like it's almost as loud as my WR450 with a full TI Yosh... The pipe fits real nice on the CT70 with the GPX, the pipe is out of the way and tucks in nicely. I have a temporary mount for the rear until I come up with something nice..

My temporary muffler mount, yep, it's a pitster oil cooler bracket bent all up.. Took about 5 minutes to bend in shape, it's solid but not cool enough.

Next up... The oil cooler.......

Party foul... My mistake I used the wrong bolts on the taps on the case... I was lucky to extract this badboy out of the case...

Oil cooler done, no leaks.. I learned a good lesson today regarding oil fittings.. From now on I'm just going to snug everything up and then look for leaks and tighten accordingly instead of cranking everything down in hopes I don't strip out holes or break off bolts...

I really like that Two Bros pipe on there...We're running that pipe on a 160 KLX and noticed a decent sound reduction with the quiet tip. It's still loud but not quite as obnoxious....The ignition cover looks awesome...Polished or dipped ?

I agree, with the quiet tip, it reduced the sound level by 1 to 2 dbs... It's really nice.. Funny, the twobros graphics on the can are similar to the CT KO graphic.. The side cover is dipped, I had to hog out a lot of material inside to get it to fit the big YX. I bought the side cover from an ebay dealer overseas..

Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

Ok, time for updates..... My Chinese rear wheel started to fall apart where the clip holds the sprocket on so I decided to go back to the stock CT hub and rim halves. I had them chrome powder coated with a bunch of other stuff like my shocks and seat hinge. My final gearing is 17/32 with the GPX, it's a perfect combo for my riding, finally 1st gear isn't a waste of time... I was pleasently surprised to see my top speed of almost 69mph, my OKO was starving for fuel when tapped out, it could've gone way more I'm sure once I jet it properly she'll do well over 70mph. Top speed is not really what I'm going after, just want to get the full potential of the engine..

Pics:
Chrome Powder coat, FYI,manufacture is HB Fuller, Reflecta

Hills above Malibu, great weather today, I put on about 55 miles.. I climbed a pretty steep rutted hill to take a "pit stop" and snap this photo..

I ran out of gas at exactly 42.62 miles with my stock KO tank, the GPS doesn't lie...

Bonus photo, and way off topic..... but what the heck....

I just took delivery of my new camera last night, I've been waiting over two years.. It's a 4k High Definition camera made my the gentleman who started Oakley, Jim Jannard, Jim sold Oakley and started RED cinema.. The stuff you see in Bluray is 1080p, this cameras resolution is almost 4 times that... Let's go shoot a film on CT70's, whoooo hoooo......

Re: CT70 GPX160 intall

That's a really nice build. I think everything is tight except the oil cooler mount. I'm not sure that works from an asthetic POV. I don't know what to recommend either because I am not satisfied with how i mount on either of my CT70's.

Really nice. One question? Why are your shocks on with the reserviors forward instead of back?
