You got it!

As it stands, I like the basic setup you have for the classes. Although you might want to think about wheel size restrictions (or not). Under the F1 rules, a stock displacement XR100 w/17's and slicks would run against XR/CRF50's w/108 kits, HD autoclutches and 12's. It's been a little while since I've been out to play with the NorCal Supermoto series, but when I did the XR100's walked away from the built 50's.

But then again, the class will be won by a 65lb kid on a screaming 2-stroke. All us adults have weight, er, not on our side.

Thanks again for taking this on!

A 17" wheeled XR100 would have a hard time competing against a CRF50.... with a 95cc...

Re: 2008 National Mini Roadrace is set!!!

A bone stock XR100 has a dry weight of 170lbs +, and makes 7hp. With a pipe, air filter and jetting you're looking at 8hp. My CRF70 based mini GP machine has a wet and running weight of 145lbs, and is turning a solid 10hp at 110cc. I could put my autoclutch back in to make it F1 legal vs F2, and wouldn't fear XR100s. The only real advantage the 100 would have on me, more gears to row through as I've got a 3 speed. Were I to uncork the 110cc motor, take it to a similar spec as say Carlo's 95cc monster, 13hp + is realistic... I'd say XR100s should be the ones worried by the restrictions just due to a lack of room to bump up their motors. :P

Re: 2008 National Mini Roadrace is set!!!

Didn't mean to open up a can of worms. Just sayin' what I've seen here.

With that said, devil's advocate time, there aren't any motor restrictions on the XR100's besides CC's. A lightened crank, rod, HC piston, cam, headwork, big carb and full exhaust will make just as massive a difference on an XR100 as it will a XR50 or XR70. There also doesn't seem to be any restrictions on frame, suspension or wheels. There is alot of room for improvement there, too.

I personally own a built CRF50 but haven't had it out in it's latest configuration yet. There are a couple of things I want to do to it while I am in there. When I am done I'll take it down to Stockton and see if I can chase down some XR100's.

Side note: I vote for the full length course (long 90). That's what they ran the AMA Supermoto bikes on there and it was awesome!

I am really, really excited at the prospect of finally riding that track.

P.S. Side note: If you need any info on that GS500E you're prepping for LRRS, let me know. I used to race one and have *alot* of stupid knowledge about those things floating around. Front end swaps, rear shocks, swingarms, etc... They're great little racers. You'll enjoy it!

I'll be racing PTwins, so I can't really do much to it unfortunately. I may still pick your brain down the line though! : )

Looking at the LRRS 2007 Proddy rules, which I think are great, methinks:

Front end: .95 racetech springs, 15w or 20w fork oil, preload to taste + (gold valves (way optional)).
Rear end: Early 90's GSXR rear shock...the ones with the remote reservoir. They pretty much bolt right into a GS500. It'll add some height to the back, give a better rake/trail and plenty of adjustability. Once it's resprung/valved by a good suspension guru, these shocks really kick ass.
Steering Damper: Yes.
Rearsets: CFM Woodcraft. Don't bother with anything else. Raask are crap!
Bellypan: E-mail Will: popawilly @ centurytel.net (remove spaces). He makes a great generic bellypan that fits GS's very well. $50 (last time I checked) + shipping. Tell him I said "Hi".
Tires: Bridgestone BT-090's. 110 front, 140 rear. They stick great and last a long time. Hit up Stickboy (the largest BStone race tire distributor in the US) and tell him I said "Hi", too. StickboyRacing.com

You probably already knew all of this. If so, should our paths cross in WI I owe you beer.

Oh, and...End Threadjack.

Re: 2008 National Mini Roadrace is set!!!

The track runs counter clock wise looking at the pictures. Starting line is at the top right and the track is pretty much wide open from that point all the way down to the first left turn. I am in top gear all the way through that section and pretty wide open throught that first left turn at the bottom of the hill. There are a lot of high speed areas with all the configurations so don't let the long or short version foul you. I usually don't change gearing for either set up.

Oh and for the xr100 talk you would be amazed at how fast a xr100 can run around this track in stock form with stock wheels and street tires.

Re: 2008 National Mini Roadrace is set!!!

Looking at the classing, as bigger YX150 builds will be too big (187cc and up) for any of the formula classes, will bikes sporting them but running 12" wheels be allowed to throw down with full sized motards in their class?

In our organization, SEMRA, we are not allowed to race a "Mini" in the SM class. For this National, the track owner says you can race a "Mini" chassis in the SM class. With that being said, I don't want a "Mini" in the SM class unless the engine is too big to compete in the "Mini" classes...............

Re: 2008 National Mini Roadrace is set!!!

I've seen a 108 in a XR50 chassis beat 25% of the 450 class at Buttonwillow, but boy did it look strange and sketchy!

I had 2 different people schedule a National in their respected discipline after I picked a date. Oh well, if you road race on Mini tracks, Wisconsin is the place to be on August 1.
